Mount Sinai Hospital was established in the year 1977, when there was little facility in medical treatment in this district. This was the only hospital in the district with multi speciality arrangement , with each department headed by experienced post graduate doctors.

       We have been treating all kinds of medical cases including ICU specialities,Probably we did most of the surgical operations in this district at that time. The gynecology department was equipped with all modern facilities including ultrasound scan, well equipped labour room and competent staff. We have been conducting more than 200 cases of labour every month and about 20-30 gynecology and obstertic surgeries.

        The pediatric department was headed by very senior post graduate doctors and assitants. We have been giving maximum importance in treating neonatal cases as there was only little facility for this in the district.

        There was an ENT department, which was  running very well. We had a dental section managed by eminent dental surgeons.

      We had a psychiatric department which was headed by post graduate staff and well experienced nurses, probably we were one of the few hospitals that provided psychiatric care at that time.

        We have an accident and emergency department, with well experienced staff running 24 hours. This was probably one of the few hospitals  with physiotherapy facilities  equipped with experienced physiotherapists.

   We had all the modern diagnostic equipments including Xray, ECG, ulrasound scan etc. Our clinical laboratory could do almost all the clinical-pathological, biochemistry and serology tests.

     I believe that we could take care of our patients in the most appropriate manner. Our hospital canteen used to supply food for the in patients as well as the out patients and public.

     As time went on,3 super speciality hospitals were established in Thosupuzha town itself with many 100's of beds and all modern equipments. So we have only a small share of the healthcare of this town now. The in patient number gradually came down and the number of staff had to be cut short. The gynecology, ENT and dental departments were discontinued;and so we may call this a speciality hospital now, although the bed strength and the facilities are still maintained.

    We are only glad to tell you that we still have the high appreciation of the common public regarding the quality of service rendered by us . The psychiatric , deaddiction and geriatric departments with long term hospital stay are well appreciated by the public. We are happy to mention that we had the pleasure of treating four generations of people in the most excellent manner. We are very much grateful to our pateints and our well wishers whom we could serve.
